A Dozen ‘Deadly’ Zins

Thursday, March 27, 2014 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Vendange Institute 440 Albert Street, Suite C108

As we come to the end of winter and look forward to summer, think Zinfandel! Join us for the opportunity to experience a dozen of these versatile wines.

The Zinfandel grape has been a cornerstone of the California wine scene since the mid-1800?s and represents 10% of all grapes planted. This varietal is known and loved by red wine enthusiasts for their flavour, colour and balanced overall style. The grape is known in Italy as Primivito.

Zinfandel pairs well with lamb, poultry, beef, game and some fish, under a variety of cooking styles (grilled, stewed, braised) and continues to showcase its versatility with tried and true pairing favorites like fish tacos, spicy fare or simply brats and burgers. Members who attended this year?s boar roast can attest to its excellent pairing with the BBQ boar.

This tasting will cover Zinfandels at different price points; from the less complex wines (sometimes called “Zins on training wheels”), up to excellent single vineyard expressions. Sorry, no white Zins at this tasting! These wines have been collected over the past year from various releases and sources to ensure we will have the best available! To avoid disappointment, register early!
