I’m not sure I’ll ever forget my first taste of Port and the sense of surprise and pleasure that I experienced with that first sip. For some reason, I’d long equated Port with Sherry, but the raisiny sweetness of Port resonated with me. Over time, I learned about Port’s versatility with its many different styles such as Tawny, Colheita, Ruby Port, Reserve or Vintage Character, Rose Port, White Port, Late Bottled Vintage (LBV), Crusted, Vintage Port and Single Quinta Vintage Port.
Port is good year round, but always exceptional during the chill of late winter or early spring. To that end, Bill Ellis, Guild President, will be leading us in a Port tasting that will take us through different styles and perhaps a surprise or two as well. During the tasting, Bill will provide an educational refresher as well as interesting highlights based on travel experiences for all of us who enjoy Port and Portugal.
