Things are in full swing for our Gala event, our rebranded Spring Wine and Dine at the NAC on April 16, 2016. We will be announcing the Wine Person of the Year and the well deserved recipient will be joining us to share thoughts, ideas and a deep knowledge of wine and the wine industry. This will not only be an amazing evening, but informative for our group. There are a few seats still available so if you haven’t registered, please do so quickly. This year there will be live music as well as the addition of a “mystery wine” that will be sure to please all. We have taken the additional step of upgrading the wine selections to pair with dinner at no additional expense to our members and giving you greater value for the event. In this case, “Guild membership has its privileges”. Here’s hoping we see you there!
Hope you made it out to the California Wine Show this past Friday, April 8, 2016. Further to this show, there will be a New Zealand event in Ottawa on Monday May 9, 2016, at the Museum of Nature. Registration is open on the nzwine.com website.
Did you know that the Judgment at Paris celebrates its 40th anniversary on May 24, 2016? This was a significant event that recognized California wines on the world stage. Firstly, I can’t believe that that much time has passed and I can still remember the Time magazine issue about it. Secondly, the LCBO will be releasing a 40th anniversary VPR and we will be running an event around it. Having not seen the release information at this time, I can’t identify the wines but we will run an event that should prove to be tasty, somewhat historic and educational. Watch for details as soon as we have them. In closing, I have two other items.
As in previous years we will be holding our AGM in early June so if you’re close to your Century Club goal please get us the information so that we can award you your certificate at the meeting.
